The celebrations for Her Majesty the Queens Platinum Jubilee in 2022 have been revealed!
To honour the occasion, a grand concert will be held at Buckingham Palace. Additionally street parties, a special pageant and a service at St. Pauls Cathedral are all on the cards.
2022 will mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th anniversary as the monarch and a special 4 day bank holiday weekend from the 2nd to 5th of June is being planned. This will be a spectacular event and a grand opportunity for people throughout the United Kingdom and from all over the world to unite and celebrate this historic milestone.
Buckingham Palace have stated the following:
“Throughout the year, Her Majesty and Members of the Royal Family will travel around the country to undertake a variety of engagements to mark this historic occasion culminating with the focal point of the Platinum Jubilee Weekend in June – one year from today.”
Britons will have an extra bank holiday and the bank holiday in May of 2022 will be moved to June 2022 for a four-day weekend with a variety of celebrations:
On the 2nd of June 2022, the celebrations will begin with the Trooping of the Colour ceremony, with the Royal Family joining Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace for a special show by the Royal Air Force (following the parade on the Mall and at Horse Guards Parade). Following the Trooping of the Colour, beacons will be lit all over the United Kingdom to mark this historic event.
On the 3rd of June 2022, Her Majesty the Queen will have a special service to commemorate her reign.
On the 4th of June 2022, Her Majesty the Queen will then visit the Epsom Derby. This will be a special treat for Her Majesty as she is a big fan of horse racing. During the evening, there will be a party at Buckingham Palace with music being provided by the worlds biggest artists (make sure to listen to one of our favourite songs dedicated to Her Majesty below, entitled ‘My Queen’ made especially by the Cartland Foundation in honour of Queen Elizabeth II). Members of the general public will be able to apply for tickets for the show.
On the final day of the 4-day bank holiday weekend, people all over the United Kingdom will friends hold a Big Lunch in honour of this huge milestone. Street parties and afternoon tea will be on order and it will be a day not to be missed.
